Profile
The Funk Federation are a 7 - 11 piece Funk and soul tribute band who will take you on the funkiest musical journey from the 60s to present day performing an amazing mix of timeless funk soul motown disco and acid jazz which when fused together creates one of the strongest sounding highly entertaining party bands available today. Each member of the band has extensive musical experience and brings with them their own charismatic personalities and unrivalled musical talents.

The 11 piece band costs from £2500 upwards depending on event location.
The standard line–up of the band (as represented by the online auto-quote system here on our website) is a seven piece which consists of bass guitar drums sax keyboards female backing/lead vocal and male lead vocal.
From here the band can extend any where up to an 11 piece by adding additional brass percussion and backing vocals. The Funk federation guarantees that every client who books the band will be left with a feeling of total satisfied having tasted the Funk Federation experience leaving them with memories which will last a lifetime.
The band provide their own quality 3K PA sound system along with a full lighting show and transportation which makes them self sufficient in considering any event in the UK or overseas. The band can adapt to any venue from small and intermit to an outdoor festival. Potential clients are welcome to request any song that they would like to have played at their event such as first dance at a wedding. Further more the funk federation can provide a premixed CD of the clients request to be played before between and after sets to make the overall event seamless.
After forming in 2003 the band has performed gigs at private functions weddings corporate events universities nightclubs and festivals as well as performing at some of the most prestige’s music venues throughout the UK and Europe appearing on bills with artists such as Womack and Womack the late great Edwin Star and Jimmy James and the vagabonds.
The band also has a great DJ who specializes in Funk, Soul, Disco, Jazz, Latino as well as all the party classics. (Limited availability for DJ, ask your agent for details when booking)
Meet the Band
Dan Murphy - Vocals
Dan has been singing professionally for over nine years. Having toured the country with with a number of function bands performing at theatres and some of the biggest venues in the country, Dan has supported Blue, Will Young, Edwin Starr among others. As a confident and experienced singer, Dan is one of the most unique voices on the present music scene and his friendly and charismatic personality wins over audences effortlessly.
Elisha La'verne - Vocals
Elisha was an aspiring singer from a very young age and in her late teens worked with producer Trevor Davy who introduced her to Maxi Priests' Dugout Productions. Maxi, his brother Martin Elliot and Tony Hearne (his personal manager) helped Elisha to create her debut EP "Just Landed" which featured four original tracks. The success of "Just Landed" lead onto a second single "I like what you do to me" written by Alan Glass and George McFaden. The song was being sold in HMV in Tokyo and soon got heard by Ken Sato, head of A+R for International acts at Avex Inc, Japan, leading to a record deal. Elisha's debut album "Her Name Is..." was an instant success in Japan, selling over 100,000 copies. Currently Elisha has released seven albums in Japan and toured the UK, America, much of Europe. Elisha has written songs for Sony PlayStation and the film 'Run Lola Run'
Gareth Smith -Guitar
After completing a three year degree in popular music at the Guitar Institute in London, Gareth has set-up his own teaching school in West London. As well as teaching, Gareth's reputation as a fantastic guitar player has brought him much work as a session musician across the country. Gareth has mastered an endless repertoire of Funk and Soul. Gareth's addictive personality and extensive musical ability makes him a valued member of the Funk Federation.
Jon Bishop - Bass
Jon has composition and performance credits on the animated feature "Boo Zeno and the Smurks" and session credits with Sony BMI ans IRL for artists such as Elvis Costello and Siobhan Parr. Over the past year, Jon has worked with numerous film composers such as Michael Kamen and Rupert Christie as well as playing for the signed London band 'Bedspace'. Along with his busy schedule as a session musician, Jon is currently studying at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. Jon was awarded the ACM 'Student of the Year' award and is now teaching guitar to higher education students. Jon is a fantastic musician with a wealth of musical knowledge, providing a solid rhythmical backbone to The Funk Federation.
Geoff Walker - Percussion
Geoff began his career in his home town of Newcastle before re-locating to London to follow his passion for music. He played in several musical groups, including 'A Tribute to Queen' and a boy band who toured Europe and the Middle East. Geoff has recently completed a two year intense BA Honours degree at the famous Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford along with fellow band member Jon. Whilst studying Geoff was tutored by some of the best teachers in the country and here he has developed his ability to the highest standards. Geoff has built up a large number of contacts in the capital and he is a session musician for many original artists. Geoff is a very versitile drummer who can adapt to any style or genre. His playing is exciting and entertaining to watch and he lets his enthusiam for music shine through.
Vasilis Xenoupolus - Saxophone and keyboards
Since moving from Greece several years ago, Vasilis has made his mark being one of the most saught after pianist and saxophonists in the London area. Before coming to England, Vasilis studied at the world famous Berkeley College odf Music in America where he gained one of the most prestigious music degrees in the world. Vasilis is currently in the final year of his Masters degree at the London College of Music where he teaches as well as studies. Vasilis is constantly approached by other musicians to play studio sessions for high profile projects as well as dedicating himself to his main commitment in the Funk Federation.

What more can I say. The Funk Federation are brilliant. They made my
party something really special. My family and friends will be talking about them for many years to come. I cannot recommend them enough. The dancing started with their first song and continued right through till their last. My only regret is not videoing the day so I could hear their music again and again.

Both Jason and I thought the band were brilliant. They performed superbly with brilliant songs and lots of energy. The space they were given was limited but they used it to it's best potential. Every single guest of ours said how great they were and were still talking about them at breakfast. They were everything we had wanted from a band, so much so that some of our guests complained that they did not get to see as much of us as they would have liked, namely because we spent most of the evening on the dance floor ourselves!
I would also like to extend my thanks to you for all your help in making sure that it was all booked and organised smoothly, you were very helpful thank you.
